Up To $1,000
Deadline October 3, 2011

Guidelines for Grant Applications
(Go to www.ogdensd.org/foundation for more information.)

Purpose:
The Ogden School Foundation (OSF) is offering teachers and administrators an expanded opportunity
to apply for grants. Although these grants will require some additional preparation and evaluation, they
will also allow increased funding for meaningful projects that could not be funded through normal school budgets. Impact Grants will be available up to $1,000 to support creative, measurable and impactful projects that support higher levels of student learning. These larger grants with their more detailed application and defined reporting method will allow the Foundation to more fully meet donor expectations and report the impact their donations make in our schools.

Persons Eligible to Apply for Grants:
Individuals employed by Ogden School District (OSD) who are involved in the instruction of students or related support services benefiting students are eligible.

Eligible Proposals:
Projects designed to begin during the 2011-2012 school year and which meet the selection criteria. Grants may fund instructional and classroom materials or any activity or material which supports higher levels of student academic achievement.

Award of Funds:
Grants of up to $1,000 will be awarded to teacher initiated programs or projects.  The number of awards will depend on funds available from OSF.

Selection Criteria:

  • Does the grant support the Foundation’s and District’s strategic plans?
  • Is academic performance emphasized?
  • Are sound evaluation procedures incorporated in the proposal?
  • Does the proposal represent a creative or innovative approach to the accomplishment of objectives?
  • Is the proposal clear and logical?
  • How will the project impact the students?

Grant Applications must be submitted to the OSF electronically.
Email application as an attachment to parslowl@ogdensd.org.

A hardcopy with original signatures on the cover sheet must be forwarded or faxed to the OSF.

Selection Process:

  • Applications must be reviewed by and signed by the principal.
  • Signed applications are due to the OSF office, no later than October 3.
  • Applications will be reviewed and commented on by the Foundation Grant Committee.
  • Applicants will be notified of decisions by November 15.

Responsibilities of Grant Recipients:

  • Use the award for the purposes intended.
  • Funds must be expended and project implemented by May 1st.
  • Completion reports must be submitted by May 15th.
  • Unexpended funds must be returned to OSF.
  • Project must be fully implemented and final report submitted to OSF before recipients can submit an application for another grant.
  • Agree to share results and best practices with those designated by the Foundation.

When applying for a grant, please remember the following:

  • Grants are to be used to fund projects that cannot be provided for in the school and district budgets.
  • Objectives and outcomes should be consistent with the goals of OSF and OSD.
  • Grants cannot be used to fund teacher training, travel, food, parties, or athletics.  When creating your budget, research carefully and be realistic.
  • Small grants are just as likely to be awarded as large grants.  Partial funding will be considered.
  • Funds will not be awarded for budgeted items available from district resources.
  • Materials belong to the school and must have approval of OSF and principal to be moved.
  • Please keep a copy of your request for future reference.
